Okay, so since Comic Con I've been mighty busy. As usual, I'm in the midst of finishing a movie. But this year is a little different. Croods is coming along nicely, and on-time. Recordings have gone smoothly, in fact we may have had our last regular recording session with Emma Stone last week. We always do ADR before the end, but we've wrapped up all her dialogue for animation. The rest of the cast will come in at least one more time, but that's pretty much it.
More on the movie later. What I'm getting at is that since Con I've already been working on next year's stuff. Plush Ogo, new vinyl, etc. But the next big step is that darned web store that's never opened. That's scheduled to change next month, on the 7th of September. We met with my web designer last night and everything is in place to open on time. There are still last minute adjustments to be made on the layout of the updated sight, which is why the blog is currently down. It won't come back till the 7th, and at that time the "store" button should be functional. Another reason for the 7th is that my main computer is currently at the shop for a damaged drive and won't be back for a couple of weeks. Which is also why I haven't posted a drawing for a while.
When the store opens I'll be selling one thing - Oog mugs. They were popular at the Con and we sold out quickly. There's currently a bad batch that's being sold on Ebay for 25 dollars each - they aren't worth 25 cents. Anyway, we made another correct batch and they'll be the first thing up in September. We decided to start with one item to figure out the system and get the whole mailing thing sorted out. Re-ordering those mugs is easy and takes about two weeks, so when they're gone we'll just make more if there's a demand. We'll start out selling in the US and then we'll try going wider.
After we get our feet wet with mugs we'll add other things - prints, etc. So there's a lot to look forward to. The new sketch book (6) is coming along well and should be at the printer before the year is out. After that I switch back to Kiskaloo for 2013. I'm looking forward to a lot more drawing in the next year, because after the movie opens I'm finally going to take some time off. I've been working non-stop for the last 5+ years since I started on Croods, moved over to Dragon, then moved straight back to Croods. So it's time for a little break.
