At the Comic Con I was approached about creating two watercolors for an Auction in Paris. I set right to work, because the deadline is just a couple of weeks away. This is a rough of the finished composition. The four elements were drawn separately and composed in the computer. Actually, I repeated ly drew them together, but inevitably I only liked one or two of the characters from each drawing. So I made an ideal version.
This is why I love the computer as a tool. I used tracing paper to get the poses to feel right. Tracing paper is terrific for fixing poses, but re-sizing is a different matter. That's a miracle that the computer brings to the party.
Now before anyone mentions it, I'm well aware the elephant and the tiger are off-size from each other. I'll be reducing the tiger a little more, but he'll still be too big in the finished drawing. There was a bear in the first concept sketch, but I'm not sure if I want that much trouble in the finished drawing.
I really like this! The girls' poses are are very lively, they bring the whole composition to a whole new level, I think. Great job, as always. Looking forward to the finished product!
great picture.
