I was up early checking Apple Trailers to see if our trailer was up yet - and as I was riding my motorcycle to work it happened!
trailers.apple.com/trailers/
When we started this movie five years ago, I thought it would be a blast, because everything was wide open.  In a world without cars, jobs, secret formulas, villains, etc. we would be able to do anything we wanted.  It didn't take long for reality to sink in - this was going to be a lot tougher than we thought.  Staring into this limitless world that we would build according to our rules, we were suddenly coming to grip with just how wide open this world really was.  Like when you've finished all your chores and you finally find time to do a drawing - you run to your table, open your drawing pad (or your computer, if you're more modern than me) and stare into a blank page.  And if you're like me, it's not very long before you are wishing you had just a few boundaries.  Should I draw a monster?  A witch?  A bunny?  A bunny riding a monster fleeing a witch?  Ugh.  At that point I begin scribbling, looking for something.  It can take hours or days before I find it.

So we began the search for the Croods story.  No matter what, we wanted to end with a balance of scale, humor and depth.  And I feel we accomplished that.  This trailer focuses mainly on scale.  Later trailers will dig into the humor.  Enjoy!

Hello Mr. Sanders. I recently joined Deviantart after being persuaded by one of my friends and was surprise to have come upon your page. Lilo and Stitch is amazing and How to Train Your Dragon is my all time favorite movie. Ever since I was younger I have always been amazed by such great works of animation and how techniques of CGI animation has come so far. I have just recently begun college in order to achieve my degree in Graphic and Multimedia design and am working towards toward someday working in Disney Animation. Although I understand that you no longer work there, I would be extremely grateful if I could borrow a bit of your time in getting some helpful tips in building a portfolio or gaining connections in the industry. Thank you so much and I love your work.

Mr.Sanders, i'm a huge fan of you and your works, especially Lilo and Stitch. I am a huge fan of the Lilo and Stitch franchise and I was so glad to come across your page so I could tell you so. I've always wanted to write to you and tell you how wonderful your work is and really, you're a huge inspiration to me. I'm a rather young artist that has always loved the work you do. I enjoyed a lot of them and got several laughs out of some movies you've done. Keep up the great work and have a great day. :)

Why hello Chris Sanders, I was very suprised to find you here on DeviantArt! But I`m very happy to have found you because I love your Lilo & Stitch movie (and all the sequels and TV shows that followed it), that`s my all time favorite Disney movie and I`ve always wanted to tell you for myself. I owe you so much for bringing Lilo and Stitch to life!

I`m currently studying animation in Uni and I have hopes of getting into Disney in future (I know your not at Disney right now). I don`t know if I will get in but I really hope so. How are you by the way? Please reply to me when you get time.

Hey there Mr. Sanders. Just a heads up, you've made it on a rather interesting new list on Cracked.com. I won't link it here, but you might want to check the site out.

By the way, good luck with How to Train Your Dragon 3! The first one's my favorite Dreamworks film of all time, and I think you did a magnificent job on it.

It appears that you are the real Chris Sanders, as a fellow dragon lover, I just like to shout these words to you that I had enjoyed How to train and glad that there are a couple sequels confirmed, seeing your pictures here on DA it seems you might have been creative as I would guess, especially when you designed a famous disney character who turns out to be Stitch, I recently started to enjoy that character even the movies and series, but the creatures that came from shows and movies I saw which was from your directing work had a part of similarity to me as I also self made some reptile characters, I have a lot of them.

I just would like to say, hope you keep up on the good work on your directing on films and or series. ^^
